Cougars End Season on High Note

March 7-8, 2009

The Cougars hosted hungry, playoff-contending Lake Tahoe Grizzlies at Vallco on Saturday afternoon.  The Cougars didn't match up the Grizzlies speed too well during the games earlier this season, but they did a great job containing Tahoe's threats on Saturday.  Kevin played a great game in net and made 30 saves.  Defense of Bella, Aseem, Joshua and Adriel made many good plays.  All forwards were aggressive on both ends of the ice.  Grizzlies scored first but Christian tied the score with a wrap-around.  Then Zack matched another Grizzlies goal when he collected a loose puck on the crease and put it in the net.  The game remained tied until 3 minutes remaining in the game when Tahoe score back to back goals to end the game 4-2.

Then the Cougars played the last game against the San Jose Jr. Sharks Girl on Sunday.  Aseem took a pass from Jack to open up the scoring soon after the opening face-off.  The girls played the Cougars tough for the remainder of the first period.  Christian had to make quite a few good saves to prevent the girls from scoring more then 1 goal to end the period 1-1.  From the second period on the Cougars gradually took the control of the game.  Bella, Rahul and Justin scored to put the Cougars in the lead before Joshua scored back-to-back goals in the same shift.  The second goal by Joshua demonstrated some fancy passing with Adriel in front of the crease.  Raymond, Adriel and Adam also had good scoring chances.  Zack, Edmund, Jack and Nicholas played tight defense while get involve offensively, with Nicholas converted his two chances.  Justin then punched in a rebound off Adam's shot to cap off the scoring for the 10-4 victory.
