CALIFORNIA COUGARS YOUTH ICE HOCKEY CLUB
AND FRIENDS OF THE COUGARS ASSOCIATION
PRIVACY POLICY
The Web site for the California Cougars Youth Ice Hockey Club was designed and is maintained by the Friends of the
Cougars Association (FOC). The Friends of the Cougars (FOC) Association is non-profit organization established
to serve as a parents' auxiliary for the California Cougars Ice Hockey Club. The purpose of the Web site
is to provide club-related and general hockey information to players, coaches and parents.
Information Collection Policies
The FOC has developed Web site policies and practices which are intended to respect and protect the privacy and safety
of its members and site visitors. These policies and practices have been designed to comply with the 1998
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent or guardian of each club player must annually sign
a Photograph and Information Release authorization permitting the site to publish player information, which qualifies
as Personally Identifiable Information. Personally Identifiable Information components include, but may not be
limited to, first and last name, photo, and age. No player under the age of 13 years will have his/her information
posted to the Web site without prior authorization. Release forms will be forwarded to and retained by the
Association's Secretary.
The FOC's policy is that no personal information will be collected from its users unless the user chooses to provide
such information. Further, the FOC limits itself to the collection of information that does not personally
identify the user. Except in the case of e-commerce transactions, handled through contracted, secure third party
vendors, the Web site will collect only a small portion of the Personally Identifiable Information components on its
users. Registration on the site is not required to access any information or to participate in any of the
activities.
The FOC does reserve the right to contract with secure third party vendors to conduct specific e-commerce transactions,
such as merchandise sales. For e-commerce transactions, the collection of Personally Identifiable Information
will be required. This information will be processed through and stored on secure servers.
Use of Collected Information
The information collected via registration will not be shared or provided to any other party, except in the aggregate.
The FOC will share broad demographic information to those parties with which we establish strategic alliances and from which
it receives significant sponsorship of the Web site. No specific user information will be provided.
As is true for many Web sites, the FOC may collect and analyze information that will help it to improve the site. In
addition to the information provided directly from site users, the FOC may collect IP addresses, browser type and domain
names to garner broad demographic information. The FOC does not currently use cookies to collect information on users
of the site. However, cookies may be used by the FOC's third party vendors during e-commerce transactions.
The FOC will not share its membership mailing list with any other organization without a case-by-case approval by the
members of the FOC. Any club member has the option to request that his/her information not be shared in this manner.
Links to Other Sites
The FOC's Web site contains links to other sites. It should be noted that the FOC's privacy policy does not apply
to other sites and that the FOC cannot be responsible for the privacy policies, if any, or the security of other sites.
Users of the Web should be careful about providing personal information via Web sites.
Parental Consent
E-mail confirmation by an adult parent/guardian is required prior to posting any materials sent from a child (under 13
years of age) onto the Web site.
Security
The importance of security in regard to the FOC's Web site and the information provided by users is of utmost concern.
The FOC will exercise great care in providing secure transmission of user's information to and storage on the FOC's Web
server. However, it is not possible to guarantee 100% secure transmission over the Internet. Therefore, the
FOC cannot insure or warrant the security of any information transmitted to the FOC or to its contracted, third party
vendors, and the user does so at his/her own risk. Once the transmitted information has been received at the FOC's
Web server, the FOC will make its best effort to insure security on the FOC's system.
