Hockey Director Mario Morrissette comes with an extensive resume to accompany his awesome personality.
Mario was born in Montreal, where he lived and played hockey until relocating to Northern California several
years ago.
Morrissette has played a major role in the recent success of the California Cougars Tier Hockey. In 2002-03,
his Cougars won the Midget Tier I Championship in the Southwest Youth Hockey League. In 2004-05, his Tier II
Midget 16AA squad advanced to the Finals of the California Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) Tier I and Tier II
State Championships.
Morrissette also doubles as Head Coach for the Cougars Bantam A program. Under his direction, the Cougars
have won two of the last three state championships. During the 2006-07 season his Tier II Midget 16AA team
finished 1st overall in the Dallas MLK Tournament and the Colorado Springs Presidents Day Festival.
In recent years Coach Mario has had players advance to the USA Hockey National Select Festival. However the
true measure of Morrissette's success with the Cougars Hockey is the number of players having advanced to Junior or
Collegiate hockey. His recent accomplishments have been to establish an ongoing partnership with several East
Coast Junior programs and a Massachusetts College where the Cougars can advance and place players in the next level
of their ice hockey careers.
