Up next: San Francisco Sabercats this Saturday at Bridgepointe!

Saturday was a good chance to see two of the best teams in the league go at it head to head, and that they did, relentlessly for three periods. The whole game was played back and forth, up and down the ice with both teams displaying great goalie and defensive play. Unfortunately, playing a challenging game like this someone had to lose, and the Cougars came up a little short in a 3-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Kyle had another solid performance in the net along with the defensive lines of Paul, Tristan, Sebastian and Ryan. They came back after a tough game last weekend and played much better against very good competition. Will started off the scoring with a shot from inside the blue line, going top shelf with 0.4 seconds left in the first period. The second period was full of good defense and goalie play, but the Blackhawks scored on an early power play and the second period ended in a tie game, 1-1. Santa Clara scored the next two goals in the third period and led 3-1 with 9:40 left to play. Deep into the third period, Paul took a long shot on net and Justin put in a one timer off of the rebound, Santa Clara 3-Cougars 2. The cougars pulled the goalie with a little over one minute left in the game and had a few chances on net, but the puck didn’t find its way in and the game ended with the score Santa Clara 3 and the Cougars 2.
