Up next: Santa Clara Blackhawks this Saturday in Fremont!

The second game of the season turned out to be a wild one. Sometimes you just have to adapt to the game that presents to you at any given day and Saturday was a shoot out, with the cougars winning 8-7 over Tri-Valley. Throughout the game Kyle made some great saves and along with the two defensive lines, it was just enough to pull off the victory. On the night, Kyle stopped 11 of 18 shots, while the Blue Devils’ goalie stopped 13 of 21 shots. The scoring went back and forth in the first period, starting with Tri Valley scoring the first goal of the game and Will, off of a rebound from the board behind the net, to score the last goal of the period to make it 3-3. In between, Justin went top shelf from just in front of the blue line and a great two pass play from Justin to Vinny to John, to score two additional goals. The second period looked like the Cougars had things under control for a while taking a 5-3 lead, scoring off of a power play when Sebastian knocked one in off of a rebound from John’ shot and Justin went coast to coast on a short handed goal. Then the fire works went off, by the end of the second period the Blue Devils took the lead 7-5, scoring four straight goals. Tristan put us one closer in the third period with a power play goal off of a face off, 7-6 Tri- Valley. Will then scored off of a rebound from an outside shot tying the game at seven all. With good defense and goal keeping, the Cougars stopped the bleeding and shut-out the Blue Devils in the third period. With 47.4 seconds left in the game Jack knocked a rebound in, Cougars 8-Tri Valley 7, game over.
