The Cougars played the traveled to Fremont for their second regular season game against the Santa Clara Blackhawks A2. Both teams started tentatively as they got used to the very slow ice conditions. After a scoreless first period the Cougars broke the game open, scoring 30 seconds into the second period and then adding two more second period goals as they cycled the puck low, forechecked aggressively and pursued the puck relentlessly. The Cougars continued to pull away in the third period adding 3 more goals before the Blackhawks were able to capitalize off a blocked shot. The Cougars added a late powerplay goal and the final score ended 7 - 1 in favor of the Cougars.
