In an all-too-familiar refrain, the Cougars started slow and fell behind early. The Cougars closed the gap, but the Firebirds pulled away to a 6-2 lead late in the third period. The boys did not give up and put up a valiant effort, but their ferocious comeback fell short and Phoenix prevailed 6-5.
