San Jose Jr. Sharks 98AA 2, Cougars 99AA 1

October 30, 2010

The Cougars 99AA team had a good showing against the Jr. Sharks 98AA, but the offense became stagnant midway throiugh the second and the Jr. Sharks came back for a 2-1 victory at Bridgepointe. The Cougars are still short one injured forward, so they mixed their lines with some success early, but the team didn't have enough in its tank for all 45 minutes.

After a scoreless and even first period, the Cougars scored early in the second on a power play, with a good headman pass leading to the breakaway goal. The Jr. Sharks scored later in the second, pouncing on a rebound directly after a faceoff in the Cougars zone. The Jr. Sharks then took over, outshooting the Cougars by a 2-1 margin overall for the game. In the third period, a long Jr. Sharks pass up ice and a streak down the right wing allowed for a mini-break, and the Jr. Sharks winger had a clear path to the net, beating the Cougars goalie on the short side above his glove. Despite some decent pressure by the Cougars at the end, the third period goal proved to the game winner, as the Jr. Sharks held on for the victory.
