The Cougars led 3-2 late in the second period, but a fluke goal tied it and the team seemed to run out of gas, as Capital Thunder opened a 5-3 lead and scored an empty netter with five seconds left to wrap up the scoring. Shots were 27-21 in favor of Capital Thunder.
