Cougars lose to Tri Valley in a weak 2nd period
March 4, 2006
Our Jamboree opener was played on Saturday morning at 8:45 against the Tri-Valley Blue Devils. This time we played a very strong first period, outshot the Devils and scored the first two goals of the game.

Garan shot our first goal, assisted by Sebastian 30 seconds into the game. And two minutes later Garan increased our lead by scoring our second goal, this time assisted by Steven. A little later the Devils scored to make it 2:1. In the first period our team was playing just great.

In the second period we started to struggle and make some mistakes. The Devils took advantage of this and first tied the game to 2:2 and then increased their lead by three more goals in the second period. This weak second period costed us the game, we allowed the Devils to shoot 13 times (against our 4 shots) and score 4 goals.

In the third period our game improved and we tried our best but were not able to score more goals. The coaches and the players stayed in the locker room for quite a while and by the time the parents were let in there was a happy team with no sign of frustration or disappointment.

Coach Jeff announced the players of the game: Garan, who scored our goals today and who plays great every week, Kurt, who had an outstanding practice on Wednesday and carried this attitude and skills to the game and Sebastian whose game gets better and better every week.

It was time to move on and have lunch (thank you Linda and Patti for organizing it!), relax, and get ready for our second game in the afternoon.
