Ending the Season on a Positive Note

The Cougars played very aggressively, recovering quickly
from mistakes and lost opportunities, and are rewarded with a
season-ending win.
The Cougars had 26 shots on goal,
(6, 8, and 12);
scoring 6 goals (0, 3, and 3);
the Flyers had 33 shots
(11, 13, and 9); scoring 3
goals, one in each period.
Center Connor Mesec, assisted by
Right Wing Demi Latham, scored the
first Cougars goal early in the second
period to even the score at 1-1.
Right Wing Jonathan Purcell, assisted by
Center Brendan Wright, scored the
Cougars second goal shortly after, to go in front 2-1.
Left Wing Matan Geller, assisted by Center
Sam Brewer and Right Defenseman Cameron Giertych,
scored the Cougars third goal late in the second
period to go in front 3-2.
Matan Geller, assisted by Cameron Giertych
and Sam Brewer, scored the Cougars fourth goal
early in the third period, to go in front (this time
permanently) 4-3. Connor Mesec, assisted by
Demi Latham, scored the Cougars fifth goal to
widen the lead to 5-3, and
Left Wing Ian Lewis scored an un-assisted final goal of the
game late in the third period.
Goaltender Adam Scianna saved an impressive 30 shots.
