Feb 21 Game 15
Blackhawks vs. Cougars

WOOW! What a game...  With the season coming to an end and with teams positioning to make the playoffs, the Cougars faced the undefeated Blackhawks for the third time this season.  In the first period, the Cougars performed better than the Blackhawks with "T-Train" leading the charge by scoring the first goal.  In the second period, the Blackhawks dominated play while “The Wall” rejected the onslaught of shots except one.  A lucky rebound shot squeezed under the right leg pad.  The third period continued to belong to the Blackhawks until something clicked in the minds of the Cougars, “We can win this game!”  The momentum slowly shifted to the Cougars, and then, "D-Man" launched a rocket past the goalie.  The Cougars were filled with excitement, but the game was not over.  Each line came out playing more aggressive and with heart.  The Cougars won 2-1 with excellent performance by “The Wall” and the whole Cougar team for finishing “strong!”

North Stars 0

Feb 7 Game 14
Cougars vs. Northstars

It was a slow start for the Cougars, but eventually the Cougars came out on top with a 6-0 win.  This score does not represent how well the North Stars played.  That they were limited 9 shots on goal were due to the defensive performance by "D-Man," "Double D," "Triple D," "Dr. Slam," "Colt 45," and "Taquito."  In addition, these 9 hard shots were stopped in their tracks by Adam to give him his second shut-out of the season.

Cougars 10

Jan 31 Game 13
Flyers vs. Cougars

At the last Flyers' meeting, the Cougars squeaked by with a 1-0 win.  This time, the Cougars dominated from beginning to end.  The Cougar Team played well with contributions coming from "Double D," "Taquito," "Buster," "Crazy Legs," "Speedy," "Matan," "Mini Me," and "Scar."

Jan 18 Game 12
Cougars vs. Sharks

The Cougars initial growl ended in complete silence.  With Cougar Adam in net, he kept the Cougars within reach for two periods.  The third period was just too much for him with Sharks continually nipping at his net.  The Cougars lost 4-0.

Jan 10 Game 11
Cougars vs. Bulldogs

KC hockey has arrived!  The Cougar players are playing his style of hockey.  From the beginning of the game the Cougars played their strategy with the "Scar" and "Speedy" executing on a set play to score the first goal.  The next set play came from "T Train" launching a rocket with "Johnny Bravo" waiting in front of the net to tap in the rebound.  The "Scar" followed up in the second period for the third goal.  The fourth came from "T Train" with another rocket shot which overpowered the goalie.  The last goal came from "Buster" who saw the goalie slowly covering the puck, so he tapped it between his legs.  It was "Tape Ball's" shot that made this play happen.  However, the Bulldogs did not let up, and answered with 4 goals.  Cougar players stepping it up to make a difference include the following.  "Taquito's" move to defense has hampered the opposing team's offensive attacks.  "Speedy's"  aggressiveness has dominated the offensive attack for his line.  And "Johnny Bravo's" aggressiveness in front of the net has become a boxing challenge for opposing defenders.  As for penalties, we rightfully received 3 from "Buster, Speedy, D-Man".  These ref's understood the game of hockey.

Squirts Final

Blackhawks 3

Jan 3 Game 10
Cougars vs. Blackhawks

It was a defensive performance by the Cougars who desperately needed additional support, but none could be found from within the rink, namely the referees.  The refs graciously gave penalties to the Cougars for, what some would call "love taps."  This is hockey!  Well, the Cougars finished the game with 6 penalties, 18 shots on net, and only 1 goal.  The defense, led by "The Wall," was bombarded with 40 shots, and only 3 lucky shots made its way to the back of the net.

As for finishing out the 2003 year, the Cougars have been in a slump since the Turkey Tournament and desperately need to step it up.  This coming weekend will be a real test for these hockey boys.  They will have had a full week to rediscover and hopefully refine their skills so they can take home 2 more wins and stay in the playoff race.

Nov 2 Game 3
Blackhawks vs. Cougars

The Battle for First Place.
It was a battle for first place with both teams coming in with two wins each.  At the end of the first period, the score was tied 3-3.  At the end of the second period, the score was tied 4-4.  The Blackhawks had an opportunity to take the lead for good having a 5 on 3 power play which led to a 5 on 4 power play but could not capitalize.  In the third, they had another 5 on 4 power play and again could not capitalize.  It was a lucky second rebound off "The Wall" which allowed the Blackhawk player to tap in the final goal.

The Cougars played the Blackhawks very competitively, but penalties from the defense and lack of scoring from the offense presented them with their first loss!

"The Blackhawks will not take one at home!" - The Wall

Squirts Final
Cougars 9
North Stars 1

Nov 1 Game 2
Cougars vs. North Stars

After a rosey performance for the opening season, what can the Cougars do next.  It was a stellar performance by the team!  The score may not show it, but this was definitely a team effort with Adam in net.  He limited the efforts of the North Stars to 1 goal.  The shot count was 28 for Cougars and 17 for North Stars.  This was the best offensive Cougar showing ever with many shot attempts coming from the defensive points.  Overall contributions came from David, Alex, Theo, Ian, Kyle, Thomas, Darren, Matan and Sam.

Congratulations to Trevor for his first preseason shut-out game!  Of course, the defensive line of the Cougars help make this happen by limiting the number of shots on net to just 3.  The Cougars offense dominated the game by out shooting their opponents by 54 to 3 shots.  Ian led the scoring with 3 goals, Alex with 1 goal, David with 1 goal, Theo with 1 goal, Colton with 1 goal, and Matan with 1 goal.

Congratulations to Ian and Theo for an awesome performance this weekend.  Ian had a hat-trick, and Theo had a hat-trick and a goal for a total of 4 goals.
