Cougars Blast Bears 14-0

February 9, 2002
The Cougars came out and simply dominated this game in every fashion. They not only outscored the Bears 14-0, but out-shot them 63-7! That's even with the Bears having 5 power plays. Actually that shows the Bear goalie, Stephen Fitzgerald, had a pretty good game, making 49 saves.

The Bears just couldn't keep up with the Cougars' speed, skill or passing and everyone on the team contributed in the scoring. Nick Lavarias led the offensive onslaught with 5 goals and Stephen Fragoza had a hat trick of his own. 11 of the 12 Cougars on the ice received at least one point.

Jordan Fragoza

The domination was at both ends of the ice as the defense frustrated every attempt the Bears made at putting together a decent scoring chance. Most of the seven shots the Bears could muster were attempted from the blue line and weren't really a threat. The result was a shutout for Jordan Fragoza and the defense.

A review of the box score will tell the story of the game, including some really gaudy numbers (Stephen Fragoza, +12!).

Tomorrow, it's up to Oakland to play the Bears on their ice. A major traffic jam seems to be the only way to prevent the same type of score and the Bears best hope.
