What A Start To The Regular Season!! December 8, 2001 The season continued after the Thanksgiving break with a 5-0 shutout against the Santa Rosa Flyers at Bridgepointe. The Cougars avenged a loss last month in Santa Rosa with an all-around great game. It all started with goaltending, and Jonathan Wilson pitched a solid shutout by making 26 saves, and never giving the Flyers any opening they could take advantage of. The | | | Jonathan | defense did a great job keeping the puck from the net and breaking up several odd-man rushes throughout the game. But the Cougars couldn't have won without some offense either, and the forward lines came through with 5 goals by 4 different players. Jeff Adam (2 goals, 1 assist) and Stephen Fragoza (1 goal, 2 assists) lead the offensive surge that threw 26 shots on goal. The forward lines continually crowded the net and pounded home four goals on rebounds.
This was an all-around solid game by every player on the Cougars - from crisp breakout passes to solid checking, all with only a couple of penalties.
The team now heads into the Christmas break with a 2-0 record during the regular season. |
